Newsletter Generator

How To Use:

  • Step 1: Click the button below to copy the newsletter HTML code to your clipboard.
  • Step 2: Paste the code into MailChimp's custom code template.
  • Step 3: Send the newsletter to the ChartWatchers MailChimp list.
  • Note: Some styling and formatting will show up incorrect here but correct after copying and pasting. This is because Ghost is overriding some styles. Check formatting in MailChimp before panicking. Common issues are fonts and spacing between elements.

How It Works:

  • The main article is retrieved from our Ghost RSS feed. It fetches the most recent article tagged with #chartwatchers‑newsletter.
  • If Grayson has published an article in the last 7 days and tagged it with the internal tag #grayson-newsletter-slot the full article will be added after the main welcome message.
  • To hide an article from the main ghost feed, tag it with #hidden-article in the Ghost editor.
  • The article preview cards are populated using the last 8 articles posted in the last 7 days, also retrieved from the RSS feed. An article tagged with #priority-article will guarantee being shown in the newsletter.
  • The YouTube cards are populated using YouTube's public API to retrieve all videos uploaded to the StockCharts channel in the past 7 days.
  • The ChartSchool tip of the week is retrieved from a static ChartSchool Tip JSON file at https://articles.stockcharts.com/assets/newsletter-chartschool-tips.json
  • The featured ad is retrieved from https://d.stockcharts.com/img/newsletter-ad.jpg. Talk to Chip if you want the image changed.
  • Use the ad link URL input to change the link to the featured ad. The default is https://www.stockcharts.com
  • The sign-off is generated using the author of the main article. Only Jayanthi and Grayson are listed as options so far.
  • To change the date, use the date selector. The default date is tomorrow's date.
