TRUCKERS LEAD TRANSPORTS HIGHER -- CHRW AND LANDSTAR SCORE BIG BREAKOUTS -- EXPEDITORS INTL HITS NEW RECORD -- TRANSPORTS LEAD XLI HIGHER
DOW TRANSPORTS MOVE FURTHER ABOVE 200-DAY LINE... Transportation stocks are one of today's strongest groups. Chart 1 shows the Dow Transports gaining 2% this morning and moving further above their 200-day moving average which is now acting as a line of support (see red arrow). My message on Friday, July 17 carried the headline: "Truckers Lead Transports Higher". And that's the case again today. Except that today's leaders were relative laggards a couple of weeks ago. That earlier message showed JB Hunt, Old Dominion, and Knight-Swift hitting record highs. But it carried another headline that "C.H. Robinson and Landstar Also Look Promising". And that's certainly the case today with both trucking stocks scoring impressive upside breakouts.

C.H. ROBINSON WORLDWIDE SOARS... The weekly bars in Chart 2 are an updated version of the same chart shown on July 17 of CH Robinson with the chart notation "positive trendline break". At the time, the stock was just starting to break through a falling trendline extending back two years. The stock is today's biggest gainer in the Dow Transports and the Industrial SPDR (XLI). Landstar (LSTR) was nearing an upside breakout in the earlier message. It has completed that upside breakout in decisive fashion. Delivery service stock Expeditors International (EXPD) is the tranports second strongest stock and is having a big breakout day of its own. EXPD is also one of the day's XLI leaders. United Parcel (UPS) is also having a breakout day. [More charts to follow].
