SOUTHWEST AIRLINES ACHIEVES BULLISH BREAKOUT -- ALASKA AIR AND JETBLUE MIGHT BE NEXT
SOUTHWEST AIRLINES CLEARS OVERHEAD RESISTANCE... Airlines stocks continue to gain more ground. Although the entire group is rising, three in particular caught my eye. The weekly bars in Chart 1 show Southwest Airlines (LUV) having cleared resistance along its early 2020 peak and reaching the highest level in more than two years. It has also risen above a falling trendline extending back to late 2017. The only caveat on the chart is its 14-week RSI line in the upper box moving into overbought territory over 70. It's the clear leader in the airline group. A couple of other airline stocks may be nearing upside breakouts of their own.

ALASKA AND JETBLUE MAY BE NEARING UPSIDE BREAKOUTS... The weekly bars in Chart 2 show Alaska Air (ALK) testing overhead resistance extending back three years (horizontal trendline). A decisive close above that flat resistance line would constitute a bullish breakout. Chart 3 shows JetBlue (JBLU) testing overhead resistance formed near the start of 2020. There again, an upside breakout could be in the making.
